Mega is an apt description for the X-Rite ColorChecker Video MEGA, as the chip section is 5' wide. This is no quick-to-grab, carry-in-your-pocket item, but a color checker used for wide shots such as landscapes, drone work, extremely long shots, or large movie studio sound stage, where you need to get your chip chart entirely in the lighting of the shot. In spite of its larger size, the MEGA target contains the same chromatic colors, skin tones, and gray chips as the other versions of X-Rite's ColorChecker Video, providing consistency as you move from one size of chart to another. This consistency is an aid in both production and postproduction as the chip chart is suitable for use with waveforms, vectorscopes, zebras, and other tools for setting color and exposure.

Chromatic Colors
Two rows of six chromatic colors are featured, with both saturated and desaturated values, which are designed to align with the primary color axis on a vectorscope. These colors provide two levels of color information for quickly removing color casts and producing an ideal and even color balance.
Skin Tones
Positioned on the edge of the target is a range of color chips designed to represent various skin tones from light to dark with subtle undertones.
Gray Levels
In the center of the target are four larger gray steps to aid in gray balancing, and include white, 40IRE gray, deep gray, and high gloss black. These levels can be used to determine proper exposure when using a waveform, zebras, or false colors and can be especially useful in multiple camera setups to ensure consistent exposure and mid-tone rendition.
Linear Grayscale
Six chips are used to display a linear gray scale to help in achieving an accurate gray balance, especially in regard to the highlight and shadow regions.
Illumination Check Chips
Black and white chips are located at two of the corners to aid in determining even illumination across the target.
Software Support
The ColorChecker Video XL target is supported in both DaVinci Resolve and 3DLUT Creator for greater efficiency when color grading.
